BLACK FINISHES SECOND AS BULLDOGS PERFORM WELL ON SATURDAY
ALBANY, N.Y. – The Bryant University women's cross country team placed four runners in the top 10, while the men's cross country team put a pair in the top 15 on Saturday morning at the 46th annual UAlbany Cross Country Invitational.
Led by a second-place finish from junior Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland), the Bulldog women finished second in the four-team field. The men were paced by a 10th-place finish from senior David Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.), finishing fourth.
The second-place finish is the second for Black this season and her time of 17:53 is a career-best. Racing her second collegiate race, freshman Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) cut nearly 30 seconds off her time at the Nassaney, finishing fifth with a time of 18:26. Martha Reynolds (London, England) finished right behind Tuxbury with a time of 18:38 and Erin Svensen (Medway, Mass.) rounded out Bryant's top-10 finishers with a time of 19:05.
On the men's side, Hurley's time of 26:30 paced the group and Colin Gannon (Litchfield, Conn.) was right behind him, finishing 13th with a time of 26:39. Christopher Chapruet (Danvers, Mass.) finished 21st with a time of 27:07 and Francis Foley (Acton, Mass.) finished 26th with a time of 27:17 to round out Bryant's top four finishers.
Bryant now turns its attention to the New England Championships next weekend. The meet is scheduled for Sunday, October 7 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.
