BLACK AND TUXBURY SWEET NEC HONORS FOR THIRD TIME

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – For the third time this season, junior Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland) and freshman Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) have swept the Northeast Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced on Wednesday.

The duo helped the Bulldogs place fourth at the CCSU Mini Meet last Friday at Stanley Park in New Britain, Conn. Black earned her first-career victory, pacing a field of 144 runners with a time of 10:04. She was nearly 20 seconds faster than the next runner in the group. Black has now finished in the top five in all four races she has competed in this season and heads into the NEC Championships as a heavy favorite.

Demonstrating she is one of the best rookies in the conference, Tuxbury paced all NEC freshmen at the CCSU Mini Meet and finished 18th overall with a time of 10:44.26. She's finished in the top 20 in three of the four races she has competed in.

Both will now look to produce strong performances this weekend at the NEC Championships which are being held at Bryant University. The championships will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 with the women's 5K race.
