Lodge collects All-NEC honors at NEC Championships Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –  Senior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) secured All-Conference honors, placing sixth overall at the Northeast Conference Championships held in New Britain, Connecticut, on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldog women finished fourth, while the men ran to a fifth-place finish. Sacred Heart won the women's team title and Central Connecticut won its ninth-straight men's title.

Led by Lodge's sixth-place finish, the Bryant women had two other top 20 finishers. Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) and Olivia Weiss (Newton, N.J.) finished 15th and 16th, respectively.

Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, R.I.) and Ryan Poholek (North Attleboro, Mass.) were the top male finishers for the Bulldogs on Saturday. Tellier finished 19th, while Poholek finished 24th

MEET NOTES

  • Lodge earned All-NEC honors for the second time in her career on Saturday. At last year's NEC Championships, Lodge placed 11th to capture the conference laurel.
  • Sullivan's 15th place finish is a five-spot improvement over last year's race, when she finished 20th at the NEC Championships in Loretto, Pa.
  • Weiss also made improvements over last year's competition. Last year, Weiss finished 30th overall, while the 2017 NEC Championships featured the 16th-place finish.
  • Poholek improved by nearly five minutes over his time at the 2016 Championships. The senior's 24th-place finish was 19 spots better than last year's finish.

The Bulldogs will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Buffalo, N.Y. on Nov. 10.
