Men tabbed fifth in preseason poll

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Northeast Conference released the results for the 2019 preseason coaches poll and the Bryant University men's cross country team was tabbed fifth, as announced Monday by the conference office.

After taking the conference title last season, Mount St. Mary's was picked to finish at the top again with four first-place votes. Wagner tied the Mountaineers with four first-place votes while Saint Francis U and Central Connecticut (2) trailed for third and fourth. Sacred Heart, Merrimack, St. Francis Brooklyn, Fairleigh Dickinson, and LIU trailed the Bulldogs to round out the 10-team poll.

Last season the Bulldogs finished fifth overall while placing two on the All-NEC squad including junior Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, R.I.). Tellier finished 13th with a time of 26:51.7 at the Championship meet and helped lead the Bulldogs all season long as one of the top three Bryant finishers in every race.

Bryant kicks off the season at home with the 19th Annual Nassaney Invitational set for Sept. 7.

The Northeast Conference women's cross country preseason poll will be announced on Tuesday.
