Bryant kicks off season Saturday with Nassaney Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University cross country team opens the 2019 season at home with the Nassaney Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The 19th Annual Invitational is in memory of Bryant cross country alum Shawn M. Nassaney '98 who passed away during the 9/11 attacks. To read more about Nassaney's story and legacy at Bryant, click HERE.

BULLDOGS NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Last season at the Nassaney, the women finished ninth overall out of 12 teams. Senior captain Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) led the Bulldogs by finishing among the top 10 in the seven spot. Sullivan posted a time of 18:13.1 in the 5K.
  • On the men's side, the Bulldogs also finished ninth out of 11 competing squads. Then freshman Jason Dolan (Westford, Mass.) emerged for the Black and Gold as a top competitor as he led Bryant in his collegiate debut. Dolan finished 19th overall with a time of 26:00.5 in the 8K.  
  • Bryant returns 17 runners from a year ago including All-NEC Rookie Team selections Julia Ayres (Collegeville, Pa.) and Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.). The Black and Gold also adds 14 newcomers with six men and eight women.
