Bio

Whatley comes to Smithfield after graduating from Ithaca College in 2023 with a degree in Business Administration with concentrations in sports management and marketing. Whatley is currently pursuing his MBA with a business analytics track at Bryant.

At Ithaca, Whatley competed in cross country as well as track and field and was voted captain for both. Whatley was also a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) representative for men's cross country.

At Ithaca, Whatley took on creating all-time lists for the team. Over his last two years at, Whatley compiled all results from the indoor and outdoor seasons since 2001 and created all-time lists and the webpages where they are located. In the end the lists had over 20,000 results and are now up on Ithaca’s athletic website.

During his time at Ithaca Whatley primarily left his mark on the mid-distance event, where he is the third fastest individual indoors and sixth overall in the 800m with his personal best of 1:55.62. He is also ranked second all time in the 600m and is part of an eighth all-time ranked DMR where he ran the 1200 leg.

A native of Cockeysville, MD, Whatley was a 6-time Liberty League conference scorer which included 4 medals, one first team all-conference (DMR) , and one second team all-conference honors (4x400). Whatley also medaled at the regional championship 3 times and scored 5 times, with the most notable being 6th in the indoor 800 his senior year. Whatley was also a part of a DMR that was USTFCCAA Indoor All-Region, and he was a 5-time all-academic honor recipient in the liberty league conference.
