Kelich tabbed ABCA Northeast Region pick

BULLDOG RHP PETER KELICH NAMED TO ABCA NORTHEAST REGION SECOND TEAM

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior starting pitcher Peter Kelich (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) continues to pile on postseason honors, earning ABCA Northeast Region Second Team accolades after a stellar 2012 campaign.

The team's ace on the hill, Kelich was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year after posting an 8-3 overall record in 13 starts, tossing two complete-game shutouts and going the distance four times on the year. Opposing hitters batted just .211 against the third-year hurler, and Kelich posted an earned run average of 1.81 through more than 94 innings pitched in 2012, walking 26 and fanning 74.

The ABCA Northeast Region Second Team honor is the latest in a list of recognitions for the righty, who was also named to the All-NEC First Team and the NEIBA All-New England First Team, as well as being tabbed as an NEIBA All-Star Game selection.

A three-time NEC Pitcher of the Week honoree this year, Kelich became just the fifth pitcher in program history to record 20 or more wins in a career and owns a 23-7 all-time mark with a season of eligibility still to go. He needs just four wins to become the Bulldogs' all-time winningest pitcher.
