Bulldogs drop game two to Binghamton on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Binghamton University bounced back in game two, defeating the Bryant University baseball team, 12-4, on Saturday afternoon at Conaty Park.

With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 24-20 overall and 11-9 in the America East. Bryant and Binghamton have split the first two games of the series are tied in the league standings.

After Bryant won the first game of the day – a resumption of Friday's opener – Binghamton scored nine-straight runs on its way to a 12-4 victory.

Jake Gustin homered and drove in two, while Zac Zyons tripled and scored two runs.

How it Happened

  • Gustin gave Bryant a 1-0 lead with a long solo home run to right field in the bottom of the first.
  • A wild pitch and a sharp single to left allowed Binghamton to take a 2-1 lead in the second.
  • Sullivan (RBI 2B) and Bade (RBI 3B) brought home runs in the third before a wild pitch made it 5-1.
  • Binghamton pushed the lead to 9-1 with two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
  • Bryant plated a pair of runs in the sixth. Zyons scored Justin Hackett with a triple and Gustin followed with an RBI single.
  • Lewis Barnum made it 9-4 with an RBI single in the eighth.
