FOOTBALL'S DON SMITH NAMED ALL-NEW ENGLAND FOR SECOND TIME

SMITHFIELD, R.I - Bryant University football senior Don Smith (Attleboro, Mass. / Attleboro HS) was named All-New England for the second year in a row by the New England Football Writers. 

Smith will join all 2009 honorees at the annual New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, Dec. 10 at Casa Di Fior in Wilmington, Mass.

Smith recorded 37 tackles this past fall for the Bulldogs who finished the year 5-6 in just the program's second year competing in Division I.  The 6-4, 255 pound defensive end was second on the team with six sacks and second with eight tackles for a loss.  Smith had six quarterback hurries to go with two fumble recoveries in '09 and concluded his career fourth all-time in school history with 17 career sacks.

The Bulldogs finished the year tied for fifth-place in the Northeast Conference with a 4-4 league mark.
