SMITHFIELD, R.I.-- Bryant University football (1-0) will play host to Saint Anselm College (0-1) Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium (3,400).  The matchup marks the 10th meeting all-time between both programs and the first since the 2007 season.  Bryant University won the last meeting 49-21 on Oct. 19, 2007 at Saint Anselm, giving the Bulldogs a 6-3 series lead.

The Bulldogs are coming off a season opening victory over non-conference opponent Fordham University last Saturday.  The 44-30 win over the Rams marks the second victory over a D-IAA member outside of the Northeast Conference, and the first win against a Patriot League opponent.

Coach Marty Fine's team racked up 400 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers on defense.  Offensively, sophomore Jordan Brown (Glastonbury, Conn.) rushed 18 times for 122 yards and three scores.  Brown also recorded the second longest punt return in Bulldogs' history with a 70 yard scamper for a Bryant touchdown early in the first quarter.

On defense, linebacker Jason Riffe (Newton, Mass.) tallied 14 tackles in the contest including seven solo stops and one tackle-for-loss.  Junior defensive back Mike McGowan (Franklin, Mass.) recorded his first interception of the season late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Black and Gold.

Saint Anselm (0-1) enters the game coming off a 41-0 loss to fellow Division-II member Kutztown University (Pa.) last Saturday.  The Hawks amassed 287 yards of offense but were not able to find the endzone in two trips to the redzone.  On defense, Saint Anselm was able to tally two sacks and hold Kutztown to 6-for-17 on third downs, but that would not be enough to overcome the four turnovers committed by the Hawks on the afternoon.
