SPRING FOOTBALL TO BEGIN MARCH 24
Annual Black & Gold Spring Game April 17

The Bryant University football team will kickoff spring football practice on Wednesday, March 24 with the first of 14 practices leading up to the Annual Black & Gold Spring Football game on Saturday, April 17.

Bryant will open spring football practice on Wednesday, March 24. This year's spring football game will be on April 17 with a BBQ to follow immediately afterwards.

Head Coach Marty Fine, now entering his seventh season at Bryant University, will open camp with more than 80 returning players from last year's team that went 5-6 overall in its second year competing at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision level.

The Bulldogs will need to replace five offensive and six defensive starters from last year's team but welcome back a veteran group that gained valuable experience in '09.  Starting quarterback Mike Croce (Waterbury, Conn.) is back after passing for 1,695 yards as a sophomore. He'll have his top three favorite targets back as well.  Tight end Matt Tracey (Bow Mar, Colo.) caught 35 passes for 476 yards and team-best six touchdowns while fullback Mike Canfora (Verona, N.J.) caught 29 passes out of the backfield and speedy Khalel Pritchard (Boston, Mass.) is back for his final season after catching 23 passes for 369 yards as a junior in '09.

Bryant will need to replace running backs Jerell Smith and Lindsey Gamble who graduate this spring but have a load of talent returning including speedy Jordan Brown (Glastonbury, Conn.), Canfora, and B.J. Aponte (New Britain, Conn.).  Veteran linemen Cody Aughney (Henderson, Nev.), Ray Bundy (Bristol, R.I.) and Tony Edwards (Damascus, N.J.) give the team experience up front.

Defensively, the Bulldogs graduate standout linemen Peter and Patrick Gauthier and Don Smith as well as linebackers Aaron Bryant and Paul Polomski, but saw plenty of promise in the play of linebackers Franck Tebou (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Jason Riffe (Newton, Mass.) and expect good things from senior lineman Andrew Regan (West Newbury, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Sywetz (Bergenfield, N.J.).
