Harris, Covitz, Barrett on CFPA Watch List

THREE FOOTBALLERS NAMED TO CFPA WATCH LIST

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Rising senior Jordan Harris (Lincoln University, Pa.) and rising juniors Jeff Covitz (Reading, Mass.) and Ryan Barrett (Holliston, Mass.) were named to College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Watch List for the upcoming 2013 season.

Harris was recognized at the wide receiver position, Covitz at the defensive line position and Barrett at the tight end position. The three Bulldogs join rising senior Mike Westerhaus (Farmingville, N.Y.) who was named to the quarterback watch list earlier.

The greatest receiver in program history, Harris is coming off a remarkable junior season in which he set school single-season records for receptions (61), receiving yards (1,243) and touchdowns (15). He also became the school's all-time leader in receptions (129), receiving yards (2,704) and touchdown receptions (26). Harris was named the NEC Offensive Player of the Year and also earned Second Team All-American honors from the Associated Press.

A stalwart on the defensive line in his first two years in Smithfield, Covitz is coming off one of the finest seasons in program history. He finished with 58 tackles, a league-high 17 tackles for a loss and eight sacks. Covitz finished 11th in the country in tackles for a loss and was named First Team All-NEC and All-New England.

Bryant's starting tight end as a sophomore, Barrett returns as a junior with a full year under his belt. He admirably filled the shoes of 2012 CFPA Tight End Performer of the Year Matt Tracey, making seven catches for 99 yards a touchdown. Barrett hauled in his first-career touchdown in the Bulldogs' victory over Central Connecticut last year.

The Bulldogs open camp in early August and open the 2013 season at home on August 31 when they welcome Holy Cross to Bulldog Stadium.
