Series history: Bryant traveled to Coastal Carolina for the first time in program history last fall. The Bulldogs, who had never traveled via a plane to a game, battled No. 1 Coastal Carolina for the full 60 minutes, eventually falling, 31-17. It was the first time Bryant had faced the No. 1 team in the country in program history.

The Black and Gold put a scare into the Chanticleers last season, grabbing a 10-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. Ricky Perez booted a 39-yard field goal and Matt Sewall hauled in a 50-yard TD pass to give Bryant the edge. The Chanticleers scored the next 17 points, however, before a 5-yard TD run from Ricardo McCray tied the game at 17-17 with 31 seconds left in the third quarter. A pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns runs broke the tie and sent Coastal Carolina to victory.

Fun Fact: Coastal Carolina officially became a member of the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2016. The Chanticleers will compete at the FBS level once they become a full member of the conference.
