Easton, Wingate earn All-New England honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior quarterback Dalton Easton (Miami, Fla.) and senior defensive back Charles Wingate (Englewood, N.J.) have been named to the New England Football Writers' Association All-New England team that was announced on Tuesday.

Easton, a Second Team All-Northeast Conference selection, is the only quarterback listed, while Wingate, a First Team All-NEC honoree, is one of four defensive backs named. The All-New England team is comprised of players from all FBS and FCS schools in the region. Bryant was one of three NEC schools (Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut) to have two players honored.

Easton put together a record-breaking performance in his final season with the Black and Gold. The veteran signal caller completed 219-of-388 passes for 2,855 yards and an NEC-record 28 touchdowns. He set single-season program records for completions, attempts, passing yards, passing yards per game (259.5), touchdowns and total offense (2,735). Easton posted four 4-touchdown games on the year and threw for over 200 yards in nine of his 11 outings. He capped his career by throwing for a program-record 391 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Sacred Heart.

Wingate earns All-New England honors after putting together another shutdown season as Bryant's top corner. He finished the year with 36 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, a forced fumble, two interceptions and 10 pass breakups. Wingate returned a blocked field goal 60 yards for a touchdown and finished his career with 165 tackles and eight interceptions.
