Kennedy, Nisivoccia take home NEC weekly honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Tom Kennedy (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and junior Vincent Nisivoccia (Nutley, N.J.) have been named Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.

The honors, the first in the careers of Kennedy and Nisivoccia, come after the duo helped the Bulldogs defeat Sacred Heart, 48-45, last Saturday at Beirne Stadium.

Kennedy put together one of the best games of his career, catching five passes for a career-high 151 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged over 30 yards per catch in becoming just the fourth different player in school history to record 150+ receiving yards in a single game. With the game tied 7-7, Kennedy opened the second quarter with a 74-yard TD reception. He then added a 29-yard TD reception late in the first half to tie the score at 21. Kennedy's final scoring reception came in the third quarter and brought back within two, 30-28. It was his fourth 100-yard game of the season and he now has touchdowns in six-straight games.

Nisivoccia picks up his first weekly honor after his scoop-and-score helped the Black and Gold knock off the Pioneers on Saturday. With the Bulldogs ahead 34-30, Sacred Heart attempted to punt but the snap was bobbled. Nisivoccia picked up the loose ball and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown. He also returned two kicks for 37 yards.

In addition, Kennedy picked up honorable mention STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week honors and redshirt junior Price Wilson (Marietta, Ga.) was named a Primer Performer by the NEC. Wilson completed 24-of-34 passes for 345 yards and an NEC record-tying six touchdowns against SHU. The six passing scores also set a Bryant single-game record.
