Constant picks up pair of special teams honors after big weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University football redshirt sophomore Jean Constant (Delray Beach, Fla.) has been named the Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and an honorable mention STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance at Robert Morris.

The honor is the second in the last three weeks for Constant. He earned the same accolades when he returned a kick 100 yards of a touchdown at Wagner on Oct. 28.

This award comes on the heels of a 156-yard return performance against Robert Morris last Saturday. Constant averaged 39 yards per return and recorded his second return score of the season with an 86-yard jaunt in the fourth quarter. The touchdown came just moments after the Colonials had pulled within four.

Constant currently leads the NEC and ranks third nationally in combined kick returns (987). He ranks seventh nationally with an average of 28.1 yards per return and is the first Bulldog with multiple kick return scores in a single season since Jose Depadua in 2015.

In addition, junior Thomas Costigan (Stamford, Conn.) was named an NEC Prime Performer for his three-sack outing against the Colonials. He posted seven tackles, three sacks, 3.5 tackles for a loss and a forced fumble. Costigan helped Bryant cap the scoring with a strip sack in the endzone that was recovered for a touchdown.
