Wright named NEC Defensive Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University football junior Tomas Wright (St. Augustine, Fla.) has been named the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

The honor comes after Wright posted seven tackles, 2.5 sacks, four tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles in the Bulldogs' win over Robert Morris on Saturday. Wright was also recognized as an Honorable Mention STATS FCS National Defensive Player of the Week.

Wright made two key defensive plays to put an end to Robert Morris' first and last possessions. He sacked RMU QB Jimmy Walker and forced a fumble to end the Colonials drive inside Bryant territory in the first quarter. Wright's second strip sack of the game came with under three minutes left in the contest and helped the Black and Gold preserve the 49-46 victory.

In addition, redshirt senior Price Wilson (Marietta, Ga.) was named an NEC Prime Performer. He completed 25-of-38 passes for 359 yards and four touchdowns against RMU. Wilson is now tied for the national lead with 13 TD passes this season.
