Bryant visits Saint Francis U on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team wraps up its three-game road swing with a trip to Loretto, Pennsylvania, to take on Saint Francis U. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on Saturday.

Series History
  • Bryant and Saint Francis U will be meeting for the 11th time in program history on Saturday. Bryant leads the series, 6-4.
  • The Red Flash have won each of the last two meetings, including a 30-14 win last season in Smithfield. 
  • Bryant is 3-2 in five games at DeGol Field.   

20th Season of Bryant Football

  • Bryant Athletics is celebrating the "20th Season of Bryant Football" in 2018-19.
  • The Bulldogs began the program in 1998 and played their first varsity season in 1999.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs enter the weekend at 5-3 overall and 2-2 in NEC play following a loss to Sacred Heart last Saturday.
  • Bryant posted a season-high 256 rushing yards in the loss and has posted 200+ rushing yards in each of the last two games. It is the first time the Bulldogs have done that since 2014. 
  • The Bulldogs also blocked two more kicks and now lead the nation with nine blocked kicks. 
  • One of the blocked kicks was a punt that was scooped up for a touchdown by sophomore David Onyemem (Dracut, Mass.)
  • Senior Thomas Costigan (Stamford, Conn.) posted a team-high 12 tackles to become the program's all-time leader in tackles with 257. The previous record of 256 was held by Marquise Watson since 2016. 
  • Junior Jesse Nemerowicz (Hudson, Mass.) also made a little history on Saturday as he became the 12th player in school history to record 200 career tackles. 
  • Senior Brenden Femiano (Northport, N.Y.) led Bryant's rushing attack with a career-high 133 yards on 27 carries. It was his second 100-yard game of the season, making him the first to post multiple 100-yard games since Ricardo McCray in 2015. 
  • Femiano has now rushed for a career-high 573 yards this season and has 1,348 in his career, good enough for ninth in program history. 
  • Redshirt sophomore Alfred Dorbor (Pawtucket, R.I.) added 87 yards on the ground last week and his sixth TD of the year. He has rushed for 323 yards this season and is averaging a team-best 5.1 yards per carry.
  • Junior Robert Brown (Palmetto Bay, Fla.) continued to fill up the defensive stat sheet with seven tackles and a blocked punt at Sacred Heart. He now has 4.5 TFLs, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, an interception and five pass breakups. 
  • Classmate Tomas Wright (St. Augustine, Fla.) picked up another TFL at Sacred Heart and ranks 2nd in sacks and 3rd in TFLs nationally.

A bit about the Red Flash

  • SFU enters Saturday at 3-5 overall and 1-2 in NEC play following a win over Robert Morris last Saturday.
  • All five of the Red Flash losses have come by one score or less.
  • SFU leads the league in scoring defense (20.6) and total defense (292.5). 
  • The Red Flash also average 30 points per game but a league-low 323 yards per game. 
  • Kamron Lewis and Cyrus Holder rank 2-3 in the NEC in receiving yards/game and have combined for 9 TD receptions.
  • Defensively, Da'Jon Lee has seven sacks and 15.5 tackles for a loss. 
  • The Red Flash allow just 182 passing yards per game and feature three of the top five in pass breakups in the NEC.
