Bulldogs host Wagner on Senior Day

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team welcomes Wagner College to Beirne Stadium on Saturday afternoon. It will be the final home game of the 2018 season for the Bulldogs. Prior to the game, the Bulldogs will honor their 27-member senior class.
 
In addition, Saturday is also Military Appreciation Day at Beirne Stadium. Active members of the armed forces and veterans receive two complimentary tickets and can purchase extra tickets at reduced price thanks to the Bryant Veterans Ticket Program
 
Bryant's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is also holding a canned food drive to support the Rhode Island Food Bank. Fans will receive $5 off their ticket for a donated canned food item.

Series History

  • Saturday will be the 11th meeting between Bryant and Wagner. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 7-3. 
  • Bryant has won each of the last three meetings and has recorded a kick return TD in all three games. 
  • The Bulldogs posted their first-ever win over a DI program in 2008 against Wagner.  

20th Season of Bryant Football

  • Bryant Athletics is celebrating the "20th Season of Bryant Football" in 2018-19.
  • The Bulldogs began the program in 1998 and played their first varsity season in 1999.

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • The Bulldogs enter Saturday at 5-4 overall and 2-3 in Northeast Conference play. Bryant has lost three of its last four games. 
  • A Bryant win on Saturday would secure the Bulldogs their second-straight winning season. 
  • Bryant is also attempting to finish NEC play at .500-or-better for the 10th-straight season. No other current NEC team has done that. 
  • The Bulldogs are averaging 29.4 points per game and 411.3 yards per game. They are giving up 37.7 points and 430.4 yards per game. 
  • Last week, Bryant allowed a season-low 233 yards of total offense against Saint Francis U. Bryant held the Red Flash to 100 yards of total offense in the second half. 
  • Senior Thomas Costigan (Stamford, Conn.) posted seven more tackles, extending his program record to 264 career stops. He also has 25 career sacks and 45 career tackles for a loss.
  • Costigan currently leads the NEC in tackles per game and ranks in the top 15 nationally in tackles per game and solo tackles per game. He is the current FCS career leader in forced fumbles (13). 
  • Junior Tomas Wright (St. Augustine, Fla.) picked up 1.5 sacks last week and now has 11 on the season, ranking third nationally. He is a half sack shy of tying the single-season program record. 
  • Senior Vincent Nisivoccia (Nutley, N.J.) continued his career year last week, posting three catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. He now leads the team with 43 catches for 587 yards and six touchdowns.

A bit about the Seahawks

  • Wagner enters the week at 2-7 overall and 1-3 in NEC play following a 47-30 loss to Duquesne last weekend. 
  • The Seahawks average 334 yards of offense per game but give up 463 yards per game. 
  • Wagner has allowed 40+ points in all but two games this season. 
  • Ryan Fulse is ranked third nationally in rushing yardage, posting 1,263 yards on the ground. 
  • D'Erren Wilson leads the team with four touchdown receptions. 
  • Santoni Graham leads the team with 81 tackles. 
  • Cam Gill has posted 10 sacks and 17.5 tackles for a loss this season.  

Gameday at Beirne Stadium

  • Fans can visit the Bryant Football Gameday page for all their gameday information.
  • Tailgating opens five (5) hours prior to kickoff and is allowed in Lots A and B adjacent to the Bulldog Strength and Conditioning Center.
  • The Bryant Athletics Student Tailgate opens at 10:00 a.m. and is in the front of Lot A.
  • Gates open at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
