Football places three on All-ECAC teams

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team placed three players on the 2018 DI FCS All-ECAC teams announced on Friday.

Redshirt junior Jean Constant (Delray Beach, Fla.) and junior Tomas Wright (St. Augustine, Fla.) were named to the first team, while senior Thomas Costigan (Stamford, Conn.) was selected to the second team.

This marks the second-straight year that Constant has earned All-ECAC honors as a return specialist. Constant led the country with three kick return touchdowns and a 39.1 kick return average. He returned 16 kicks for 626 yards, including return scores of 100, 97 and 88. Constant returned the opening kickoff of the 2018 season for a touchdown and then capped the season with kick return scores in each of the final two games. With his 88-yard return score at Howard, Constant became Bryant's all-time leader in kick return yards with 1,694.

Wright picks up All-ECAC honors after posting a record-breaking season on the defensive line. He set a Bryant single-season program record with 12.5 sacks and added 17.5 tackles for a loss and three forced fumbles. Wright, an All-NEC First Team selection, registered at least one sack in seven of the 11 games and had multiple sacks in five contests.

The 2017 ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, Costigan picks up second-team honors after posting a Bryant single-season program record 109 tackles. He also collected 5.5 sacks, 14 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Costigan had at least seven tackles in all 11 games and finished his career with a program record 285 tackles. He finished 19th in voting for the FCS Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the best defensive player in the country.
