Merritt announces addition of Sydeski and Bindelglass

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University football head coach Chris Merritt has announced the addition of Tom Sydeski and Andrew Bindelglass to the coaching staff for the 2019 season.

Sydeski will serve as an offensive assistant, while Bindelglass will be a defensive assistant.

"Tom has roots in the Northeast, has worked with Coach Ciocci at FIU and has had experience with the offense we are going to be running here," Merritt said. "Andrew is a Bostonian that is exceptionally tech-savvy and has experience recruiting academically prestigious student-athletes. We are excited to have both Tom and Andrew on our staff."

Sydeski joins the Bulldogs after spending last season as the offensive quality control coach and assistant offensive line coach at Florida International. He was a part of a coaching staff that led FIU to a victory in the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl. Sydeski worked with an offensive line that finished third nationally in sacks allowed and fourth nationally in TFLs allowed. His first collegiate coaching position was at Old Dominion. Sydeski was a collegiate quarterback at Stonehill, Hobart and Hartwick, and earned a degree in Business Administration from Hartwick in 2017.

Bindelglass comes to Smithfield after spending the 2018 season as the defensive quality control coach at Holy Cross. Prior to Holy Cross, Bindelglass served as the assistant secondary coach at Tufts. In addition to working with the secondary, Bindelglass also served as the director of alumni relations and as the video coordinator. Bindelglass graduated from Tufts in 2017 with a degree in Political Science.
