Three Bulldogs named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Three members of the Bryant University football have selected as members of the 2019 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, announced Wednesday by the NFF and College Hall of Fame.

The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers and were either starters or significant contributors throughout 2018. An all-time high of 1,643 players from a record 424 schools qualified for membership in the society's 13th year.

Peter Corbett (Wantagh, N.Y.), Tom Kennedy (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Kevin Lazo (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) represented the Black and Gold on the list. They are the first student-athletes from Bryant to be recognized.

Corbett appeared in all 11 games for the Bulldogs, posting 18 tackles, two sacks and a blocked kick. He registered a season-high four tackles and a sack in Bryant's victory over Fordham.

Kennedy returned from injury to appear in the final seven games of the 2018 season. He caught 33 passes for 410 yards and a touchdown. Kennedy caught 13 passes for 221 yards at Fordham, setting a single-game program record for receptions. He finished his brief two-year career with 90 catches for 1,298 yards and 10 TDs.

Lazo wrapped his career by starting all 11 games in the middle of Bryant's defensive line. He posted 29 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss and three blocked kicks. Lazo posted two tackles for a loss in the final game of his career and graduates as the program's all-time leader with nine blocked kicks.
