Football Season Preview: Quarterbacks

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team opens the 2019 season on Aug. 29 at Stony Brook. BryantBulldogs.com will preview the 2019 Bulldogs position-by-position over the next two weeks.

Quarterbacks

Returning: Chris Hindle (Cranston, R.I.), Broghean McGovern (Haverhill, Mass.), Harrison Easton (Miami, Fla.), Robert DuCharme (Wilmington, Mass.), Matthew Crisafulli (North Kingstown, R.I.)

Newcomers: Kory Curtis (Cape Coral, Fla.)

Position Coach: Tom Sydeski

Notes and Notables

  • Bryant returns five quarterbacks that were on last year's roster but will have replace the loss of Price Wilson. Wilson appeared in 20 games over the last two seasons and threw for 5,685 yards and 44 TDs.
  • Both Hindle and McGovern started games for the Black and Gold last fall. Hindle became the first freshman to start a game since Charlie Granatell in 2004 when he got the nod against Central Connecticut.
  • Hindle went 4-of-6 for 27 yards and rushed for 21 yards to lead the Bulldogs down the field for a score on the first series of the game.
  • McGovern started at QB against Saint Francis U and Wagner last fall. Those were the first two appearances of his career.
  • McGovern was 17-of-32 for 198 yards in his start vs. Wagner. He also rushed seven times for 14 yards and two scores and caught a TD, becoming the first QB in DI program history to catch at TD pass.
  • Curtis joins the Black and Gold after spending three semesters at Ohio State. He served as the scout team QB last fall at Ohio State. Curtis threw for over 5,400 yards and 59 touchdowns at Island Coast High School.       

Fun Fact

  • Both Hindle and McGovern posted receptions last fall. Hindle made a five-yard catch, while McGovern had a six-yard TD reception.     

The Bulldogs open the 2019 season on Thursday, August 29 at Stony Brook. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
