Football Season Preview: TE/OL

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team will welcomes back an experienced group of tight ends and offensive linemen in 2021. 

Today's tight ends and offensive line preview is the fourth of eight positional previews as the Black and Gold get set to kickoff the 2021 season on Sept. 4 at Rhode Island.

Quick Outlook

Junior Jihad Edmond and sophomore Konor Lathrop highlight a strong group of returning tight ends for the Black and Gold. Edmond came into his own during the abbreviated spring season, finishing second on the team with nine catches for 73 yards. Lathrop also saw considerable time as a true freshman, making one catch on the year. 

Up front, the Black and Gold will look to build on an outstanding spring season. #5Strong helped the Bulldogs average 179 yards per game on the ground, their highest since the 2014 season. Bryant will welcome back several stalwarts this fall led by senior Mike Andrejco, Carson Ivey, Trevor Smith and Michael McNish.

Notes and Notables

  • Edmond finished second on the team with nine catches for 73 yards. He had a career-high four catches Merrimack and closed the year with two catches for 44 yards against Duquesne. 
  • Andrejco was a Phil Steele All-NEC selection as a sophomore and is back for a fifth year after missing three games in the spring with an injury. He had started in 24-straight games before the injury.
  • Bryant also welcomes in a trio of JUCO transfers in Brian Durkin, Ahmad Assad and Jamichael Watts.
