Eckhaus garners 4th-straight NEC Rookie of the Week
SOMERSET, N.J. -- Bryant University football freshman quarterback Zevi Eckhaus was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the fourth-straight week on Monday.
Eckhaus helped lead a fourth-quarter comeback on Saturday as the Bulldogs rallied to defeat Saint Francis U, 18-17, on Family & Friends Weekend.
Eckhaus' late heroics helped Bryant to an 18-17 home win over Saint Francis. The rookie quarterback led back-to-back fourth-quarter scoring drives, capping each one with a touchdown pass as the Bulldogs erased an 11-point deficit. Eckhaus passed for 206 yards and netted 41 yards on the ground. On the first fourth-quarter touchdown march, which went 99 yards in 5:00, Eckhaus passed for 50 yards, including a 9-yard scoring strike to Psaveon Reaves that was preceded by the quarterback's 10-yard first-down run down to the 9-yard line. With Bryant backed up to its own 15 following a holding infraction, Eckhaus powered the go-ahead drive by completing four passes for 45 yards, rushing twice for 20 yards and drawing a pair of personal foul penalties. His 5-yard connection with Daniel Adeboboye tied the game at 17-17 and Luke Samperi's ensuing PAT gave Bryant an 18-17 lead with 00:32 remaining.
