Andreessen, Eckhaus take home weekly honors

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Bryant University football senior linebacker Joe Andreessen and freshman quarterback Zevi Eckhaus both took home weekly honors from the Northeast Conference on Monday.

Andreessen was named the NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, while Eckhaus earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors for the fifth-straight week.

Andreessen contributed four tackles and two takeaways to a defensive effort that limited Wagner to 214 total yards and no offensive touchdowns in Bryant's 31-10 road victory. He made a trio of plays in the first quarter, resulting in a Wagner punt. The veteran linebacker ended two of Wagner's third-quarter possessions with interceptions in Seahawks' territory. Andreessen also logged two second-quarter stops after Bryant took a 17-10 lead.

Eckhaus threw multiple touchdown passes for the fifth straight game and the freshman quarterback retains the NEC Rookie of the Week award as a result. The California-born quarterback went 22-of-36 passing for 236 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-10 road win over Wagner. The mobile signal caller also netted 18 yards rushing, including a three-yard touchdown on a fourth-quarter keeper. Eckhaus, who logged his sixth interception-free game of the season, threw for 12 first downs against the Seahawks' defense. The 6-foot-1 freshman fired a 31-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Frederick, giving Bryant the lead for good with 5:07 left in the first half. His second six-point throw, a 6-yarder to David Zorrilla, gave the Bulldogs a 24-10 advantage with 3:42remaining in the third quarter.

In addition, Ryan Saddler was named an #NECPrimePerformer. He finished with nine tackles as Bryant's defense held the Seahawks without an offensive touchdown.
