Eckhaus named NEC Player, Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Bryant University football freshman quarterback Zevi Eckhaus was named the Northeast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.

It marks the second time this year that Eckhaus has taken home both honors, while he picks up rookie of the week honors for the sixth time.

Eckhaus erupted for a season-high 356 pass yards in a convincing victory over LIU on Senior Day in Smithfield. The rookie signal-caller completed 76.3 percent of pass attempts on his way to the highest passing output in an NEC game this season. Throwing multiple touchdown passes for the seventh game in a row, Eckhaus fired first-half scoring strikes to Anthony Frederick and David Zorrilla. He completed passes to 11 different receivers and accounted for 9.4 yards per pass attempt in the 52-7 triumph. Playing turnover-free football, the freshman passed for 18 first downs and netted 12 yards on the ground. Eckhaus' 42-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Fredrick broke a 7-7 tie with 3:36 left in the first quarter. His 15-yard hookup with Anthony Zorrilla bumped the Bulldogs' lead to 28-7 at the break. The 356 passing yards are the 10th most in a game in program history.

In addition, Daniel Adeboboye, David Zorrilla and Jack Daly were named #NECPrimePerformers. Adeboboye rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns, Zorrilla caught nine passes for a career-high 147 yards and a TD and Daly posted 4.0 tackles and 1.5 TFLs.
