Bryant opens Big South play Saturday at NC A&T

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team opens Big South play this Saturday when it travels to preseason favorite North Carolina A&T. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Series History

  • Bryant and North Carolina A&T will be meeting for the first time in program history. 
  • The Bulldogs and Aggies met in baseball in 2014. Bryant won both games.   

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters the week 1-3 overall after a 31-29 victory over LIU last week. Saturday will be the first Big South game for both Bryant and NC A&T.
  • Joe Andreessen was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week on Monday. He finished with 13.0 tackles and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. 
  • Andreessen leads the Big South with 11.5 tackles per game and 7.5 TFLs. 
  • Ethan Gettman was named Big South Co-Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking a game-winning 37-yard field goal last Saturday. It was a career long for Gettman. 
  • Zevi Eckhaus enters the weekend ranked first in the Big South in passing yards per game and total offense. Eckhaus, however, was held without a touchdown pass for the first time in his career in game he started. 
  • Ishod Byarm returns to his home state this weekend fresh off his first-career 100-yard game. He rushed for 107 yards on 16 carries.  

A bit about the Aggies

  • NC A&T was chosen as the preseason favorite in the Big South. The Aggies went 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the Big South last season. 
  • This year, the Aggies are off to a 1-3 start, earing their first win of the season last week against South Carolina State. NC A&T has also faced NC Central, North Dakota State and Duke. 
  • The Aggies are averaging 332 yards per game and surrendering 315 per game.
  • Bhayshul Tutten leads the team with 105 rushing yards per game. 
  • Tyquan King leads the team with 43.0 tackles.
