Bryant faces No. 5 Holy Cross Saturday in Worcester

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University football team makes the trip up 146 this weekend to face No. 5 Holy Cross in Worcester. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.

Saturday will be Bryant's second game against a nationally-ranked opponent this season.

Series History

  • Bryant and Holy Cross will be meeting for the third time in program history. 
  • The Bulldogs and Crusaders have split the first two meetings, with both games being decided by one point. 
  • Bryant won the first meeting on a missed field goal, while Holy Cross hit a game-winning field goal with 13 seconds left in the second meeting.    

Bulldogs Notes and Notables

  • Bryant enters the week at 3-6 overall following a 43-37 victory over Campbell last Saturday. 
  • Bryant scored 40+ points for the second-straight week and for the third time this season. The Bulldogs currently lead the Big South with 33.6 ppg.  
  • Joe Andreessen, a member of the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List, ranks fourth nationally with 11.1 tackles per game. He has posted 10+ tackles in eight of nine games.
  • Andreessen enters Saturday sixth all-time with 240.0 tackles.  
  • Zevi Eckhaus enters Saturday ranked eighth nationally in passing yards per game (282.1) and seventh in total offense (294.6). His 2,539 passing yards are a career high and are the fourth-most in a single season in program history. 
  • Ishod Byarm posted his second 100-yard game last week, rushing for a career-high 148 yards on a career-high 30 carries.  
  • Anthony Frederick enters the week 42 receiving yards shy of 1,500 for his career. 
  • Landon Ruggieri leads the team with 91.0 receiving yards per game and 821 total receiving yards.
  • Ruggieri has posted four 100-yard games this season, including a career-high 169 yards on a career-high 10 catches at Gardner-Webb.    

A bit about the Crusaders

  • Holy Cross enters Saturday ranked No. 5 nationally. The Crusaders are a perfect 9-0. 
  • Holy Cross wrapped up its fourth-straight Patriot League title last Saturday.
  • Matthew Sluka has rushed for 769 yards and eight touchdowns, while also throwing for 1,856 yards, 20 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
  • Holy Cross is allowing just 20.0 points per game.
