Gettman and Frederick earn FCS Preseason All-American honors
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University senior kicker Ethan Gettman was named to the Bluebloods 2023 FC Preseason All-American First Team by thebluebloodscfb.com on Wednesday. Senior kick returner Anthony Frederick earned second team honors.
Gettman had the best year for a kicker in DI program history, going 14-15 on field goals (93%), which led the nation, and he converted 40-42 extra points for a grand total of 82 points. He received the Fred Mitchell Award and All-Big South First-Team honors. He recorded three field goals from 40+ and converted a program-record 56-yard field goal against Charleston Southern.
Frederick was one of the top returners in the country last season. He was named the Big South Special Teams Player of the Year and was named to the All-New England team, All-Big South First Team, and STATS FCS Third Team All-America. He led the country in return yards with 901 and was fourth in yards per return with 30.0. He also had a return of 30+ yards in all but two games last year.
