Bio

Drew Anderson served his first year as the Quarterbacks coach in 2023.

Anderson helped Quarterback Zevi Eckhaus earn the Big South-OVC Offensive Player of the Year. Eckhaus tallied 2,907 yards, 28 TDs, and 238 completions. Eckhaus threw four straight 300+ passing games. Eckhaus ended his career first all-time in passing TDs with 75. Also the all-time leader in total offense with 9,287 and 724 completions.

 

Anderson comes to Smithfield after spending the last two years as the offensive coordinator at Diablo Valley College. He also played two season of professional football following an outstanding collegiate career. 

At Diablo Valley, Anderson improved DVC's offense from 46th (19 ppg) in California to fifth (36 ppg) in his first season. He helped DVC average over 430 yards of offense in each of his two seasons. Anderson produced two Division I scholarship quarterbacks in 2022 and three total in his time as the offensive coordinator. 

Prior to his time at DVC, Anderson spent played professionally the Arizona Cardinals (NFL - 2019-20) and the Edmonton Elks (CFL - 2021). Anderson made the practice squad as a free agent with the Cardinals in 2019 before spending the 2021 season with the Elks. 

Anderson began his playing career at Diablo Valley, throwing for 3,459 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2015. He then transferred to Buffalo where he spent two seasons, setting MAC single-game records for passing (597) and touchdowns (7). Anderson completed his collegiate career at Murray State, throwing for 2,864 yards and 20 touchdowns, earning all-conference honors.
