Joseph Hawkins begins his second season with the Bulldogs in the fall of 2021. 

Hawkins brings seven years of coaching experience and was a three-time all-conference selection during his playing days.

Hawkins' first season was the pandemic-shortened spring 2021 season. David Zorrilla shined under Hawkins, posting 11 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Prior to Bryant, Hawkins spent a season as a graduate assistant at Florida International University. He worked with the wide receivers and tight ends, while also recruiting Virginia and North Carolina.

Hawkins spent two seasons as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Warner University prior to his time at Florida International. He also served as the passing game coordinator, coaching three all-conference players in his time.

Before his time at Warner, Hawkins spent 2014-2017 at Pace University where he coached running backs and tight ends. He also served as the co-special teams coordinator for kick off return and punt return.

Hawkins played collegiately at Norfolk State, where he was a three-time all-conference tight end. He ranks as Norfolk State’s all-time leader in receptions (92) and yards (1,103) for a tight end in school history. Hawkins was a two-time team captain and was a BSN Third Team All-American in 2013.

The Chicago native graduated with a degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2013 from Norfolk State University.
