Bryant closes season with 2-1 win in double OT

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Olivia Clarke deflected home a feed from Taryn Rauff to lift the Bryant University field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Queens University on Saturday afternoon at the Track & Turf Complex.

Bryant honored its seniors prior to the game and classmates Rauff and Brittany Gouws made big contributions. Gouws' goal in the 51st minute tied the game.

Rauff carried the ball to the right side of the circle and her shot was deflected home by Clarke in the second OT. 

How it Happened
Queens opened the scoring in the 28th minute as Sydney Smith scored off of her own rebound. 

Bryant was able to tie the game late as Gouws took a penalty corner and was able to finish it with a shot to the right. 

It remained tied until the second overtime when Rauff carried the ball to the right. Her attempt on cage was deflected home by Clarke.

  • Bryant's 30 goals this season are also its most since 2013. 
  • Gouws scored her team-leading eighth goal of the year. She finishes the season with 8 goals and 6 assists for 22 points.
