Bulldogs fall to Providence, 1-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Bryant University field hockey fell to Providence College, 1-0, on Friday afternoon at Lennon Family Field.

The loss is the first of the season for the Black and Gold.

  • The Friars broke the deadlock with a shot through a screen in the third quarter.    

How it Happened

  • After having a goal disallowed earlier in the third quarter, Providence was able to take the lead in the 42nd minute.
  • Lisa McNamara dribbled into the circle and fired a shot that found its way through traffic and into the back of the cage.
  • Bryant had one last chance, collecting a penalty corner with just over 30 seconds left. Emma Rothkopf got a long shot off that was stopped in traffic.

  • Dieneke Hes stopped three shots in defeat.
  • Providence held a 9-2 advantage in shots and a 7-3 advantage in penalty corners.
