Griffin scores first collegiate goal in loss at Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. -- The Bryant University field hockey team fell to Quinnipiac, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon.

Natalie Griffin scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs in the game.

Key Moment

  • After Bryant made it 2-1 in the fourth quarter, Quinnipiac goalie Cristina Torres made a huge save to keep the Bobcats ahead by one.     

How it Happened

  • The Bobcats scored in the first minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead.
  • It remained 1-0 until the Bobcats scored late in the second quarter. 
  • In the fourth quarter, Bryant controlled the ball outside the circle. Ella Davison sent a pass to Emma Rothkopf, who delivered it beautifully to Griffin for the goal.
  • Quinnipiac would make it 3-1 minutes later and closed the game with an empty-net goal.

Bryant Notes and Notables

  • Bryant and Quinnipiac were scheduled to play on Sunday but inclement weather shifted the game to Wednesday.
  • The game was delayed for 30 minutes at 9:49 mark of the first quarter due to lightning.
  • Colby Lavoie joined the team on Tuesday and was cleared to play Wednesday morning. She started in net in her collegiate debut.
  • Griffin scored the first goal of her collegiate career. She now has three points this season. 
  • Davison and Rothkopf both picked up their first assists of the season. Rothkopf recorded her first point as a Bulldog.
