Bryant opens 2022-23 Monday night at the Chace

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's basketball team opens the 2022-23 season on Monday night when it welcomes Thomas College (Maine) to the Chace Athletic Center. Tip is set for 7:02 p.m.

Monday's game will air on ESPN+.

Bryant and Thomas are meeting for the first time in program history.                

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. Bryant is coming off a historic 2021-22 season that saw the Bulldogs win a Division I program record 22 games. The Black and Gold won NEC Regular Season and Tournament titles, advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time at the Division I level.
  2. Bryant begins the season ranked No. 23 in the College Insider Preseason Mid-Major Top 25. It is the first time in program history that the Bulldogs have been ranked in the preseason mid-major poll. 
  3. Charles Pride was named to the Jerry West Award Watch List, an award given to the top shooting guard in college basketball. Pride averaged 17.7 ppg and led all guards in the country with 8.6 rpg. 
  4. Pride enters his fourth year with the Black and Gold and is one of only two players in DI program history with 1,000+ points and 500+ rebounds.     
  5. Bryant will have nine new players on its roster for the 2022-23 season. The Bulldogs added transfers Sherif Gross-Bullock, Miles Latimer, Chauncey Hawkins, Doug Edert, Earl Timberlake, Antwan Walker, Kvonn Cramer and Tay Mosher. Todd Rochelle is the lone true freshman on the roster.
