Bryant, UAlbany to square off in conference championship rematch

SMITHFIELD, R.I. –  The Bryant University men's lacrosse team will travel to New York this weekend where they will take on 4-5 UAlbany in a rematch of the 2023 America East Conference Championship game. Faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

THE SERIES
This is the 7th all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and the Great Danes. The Bulldogs won the previous two meetings last year both in the regular season as well as in the conference playoffs.

SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
After going winless through their first four contests of the season, UAlbany has hit their stride heading into conference play. They have won three of their last four games and are undefeated against America East opponents. Sophomore attacker Silas Richmond leads the offensive unit with 26 goals so far this season. Graduate LSM Jake Pisseno leads the defense with 23 caused turnovers. The Great Danes primary faceoff specialist is senior Regan Endres. He has gone 131-225 at the X in 2024 and has a .582 faceoff percentage. First year goaltender Landon Whitney has seen the bulk of the time in the cage. He has recorded 92 saves and has a .469 save percentage through nine games.

BRYANT NOTES AND NOTABLES

  • Kevin Groeninger recorded 13 in Bryant's two games against UAlbany last season including 10 goals. He recently posted 5 goals against NJIT last week after missing the past three weeks.

  •  The Bulldogs are now inside the top 5 in scoring defense; only allowing an average of 9 goals a game.

  • Aidan Goltz also had a hat trick in Bryant's last game against NJIT. Last season, he scored the game winning goal against UAlbany in 2OT to advance Bryant to the NCAA Tournament.

  • The Black and Gold are currently 4-0 since freshman Scott Einarson took over as the team's primary goaltender. 

  • Jack Lonsinger leads the team goals so far this season with 22.

  • Nathan LaLiberte remains atop the NCAA in individual faceoff percentage (.681)

  • Johnny Hackett leads the Dawgs in assists with 17.
