Goltz delivers game winner as Dawgs defeat Danes

ALBANY, N.Y. – Aidan Goltz would bury a last second goal to help the Bryant University men's lacrosse team defeat UAlbany 13-12 in a thrilling game on Saturday night at Casey Stadium. The Black and Gold improve to 3-1 in America East play and currently holds the tie-breaker for the No. 1 Seed in the conference. 

Kevin Groeninger and Aidan Goltz both record hat tricks in back-to-back games and combined for 8 total points. 

Scott Einarson also improves to 5-0 as the Bulldogs starting goaltender as he had an even 50% save percentage against the Great Danes.

How it Happened

  • Kevin Groeninger got the scoring going for the Bulldogs after burying a shot from the left side 15 seconds into the game.

  • Daniel Kesselring would rip one home for UAlbany and knot the score up at 1.

  • Groeninger would score two consecutive goals including a wraparound score that would give him a hat trick.

  • Joey Carino would narrow Bryant's lead after netting his fourth goal of the season and cut the deficit to 1.

  • Dawson Rielly would start the scoring in the second after being assisted by Timmy Hackett in an early man-up opportunity.

  • The Danes would then strike back and score twice in just over a minute.

  • Aidan Goltz would get into the scoring column after being left open on the far side and put Bryant up 6-4.

  • Ryan Doherty would pull UAlbany to within one after with his first goal of the game.

  • Amos Whitcomb tied up the game for UAlbany with a goal at 12:32 in the third.

  • Mason Drouin would then cut across the crease and rocketed one home to give Bryant back the lead.

  • Rielly would score his second of the game after finding and open an opening on the corner to put the Dawgs up by two

  • Jackson Palumb would circle around the defender and score his tenth goal of the year.

  • Mason Drouin would go left to right and strike back for Bryant with his second goal of the evening.

  • Jack Lonsinger would give Bryant their largest lead of the game with a goal with 4 seconds remaining in the third. UAlbany's Darien Lapietro would then proceed to score a buzzer beater midfield goal to end the period.

  • Goltz would score his second goal of the game from nearly the same spot as his first and put Bryant up 11-8.

  • Silas Richmond would score consecutive goals including a behind the back score to cut the Bulldog lead to one.

  • Groeninger would record his fourth goal of the game on a back-door cut and give Bryant a 12-10 lead.

  • Daniel Kesselring would get the Danes back to within one after Einarson got tied up behind the net

  • Palumb would tie it at 12 with 1:51 remaining in the fourth.

  • With 4.2 seconds remaining Aidan Goltz would score his third goal of the game after shooting over the shoulder of the defender and putting Bryant ahead 13-12.

  • Shots were nearly even in the game with Bryant narrowly winning the advantage 40-38.

  • Faceoffs were also close to even with UAlbany winning 14-27 draws.

  • Goltz has now scored the game winning goal in back-to-back games vs UAlbany. Last May, Goltz scored in 2OT as Bryant defeated UAlbany in the America East Championship.
