Bulldogs host FDU in big match Sunday (1 p.m.)

SMITHFIELD, R.I – Currently sitting in a tie for fourth place in the Northeast Conference standings, the Bryant University men's soccer team will welcome Fairleigh Dickinson to Smithfield on Sunday (1 p.m.).

With just two matches remaining on their 2013 regular season slate, the Bulldogs will look to earn their first-ever berth to NEC Tournament.  With the top four teams earning spots in the playoff, the Black and Gold are still very much in the mix to earn one of the bids.

Coming off a tough week in which they finished 0-1-1 in matches at LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis Brooklyn, Bryant will look to pick up the offense in the final two weeks of the regular season.

The Knights are currently sit in seventh in the NEC standings, but a previously nationally ranked FDU team poses a big challenge for the Bulldogs.  Junior forward Nico Wright leads the Knights with 9 points on 2 goals and 5 assists.  In net, they are led by senior goalkeeper Jacob Lissek who has put up an impressive 1.00 goals against average in 14 starts.

Sophomore forward Brett Larocque (Ottawa, Ont.) leads Bryant with 11 points on five goals and one assist, while classmate Jake Lamar (New Haven, Conn) ranks second with seven points on three goals and a helper.  The Black and Gold will rely on some production from their top two scorers as they look to bounce back against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday.
