Binder's goal puts Bulldogs on top of Bulls Sunday afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's soccer team found their first win of the season against the University of New York, Buffalo on Sunday afternoon in Smithfield.

 Sophomore Thomas Binder (Vienna, Austria) scored the game winning goal for the Bulldogs (1-2-2), forcing the Bulls (3-3-1) into their third-straight loss. The forward received a through pass from senior Brett Larocque (Ottawa, Ont.) and dribbled into the box, finishing low into the net in the 59th minute. The tally marks Binder's first goal of the season.

The intensity between the two teams heightened after the Bulldogs took the lead. Buffalo finished the match with 20 fouls and two yellow cards, while the Bulldogs concluded with 15 fouls and a pair of yellow cards, as well.

Senior keeper Chris Knaub (Yarmouth, Maine) recorded his first shutout of the season, gathering three saves and making key plays for the Bulldog defense.

Bulls' goalie Joseph Kuta recorded four saves off five Bryant attempts.

The Black and Gold return to action in Smithfield on September 20, when they take on Rider at 1 p.m.
