Bulldogs defeated by Catamounts on the road Sunday afternoon

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Senior Brett Larocque (Ottawa, Ont.) finds his fourth goal of the season, but it is not enough to help the Bryant University men's soccer team beat Vermont, falling, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (1-5-2) trailed the Catamounts (5-3-1), 1-0, at halftime, after Gideon Rosenthal crossed the ball to Clay Gattey, who finished the play with a header into the back of the net.

The Black and Gold responded in the second half, when Larocque capitalized off of Vermont's inability to clear the ball. The forward gained possession for the Bulldogs and shot near post for the score in the 57th minute.

Stefan Lamanna sealed the 2-1 victory for the Catamounts, one timing a cross from Brian Wright with 20 minutes remaining in the game.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Stewart (South Windsor, Conn.) saw all 90 minutes for the Bulldogs, recording two saves on the game.

As a team, the Black and Gold rattled off nine shots, while the home team recorded 10. Sophomore forward Thomas Binder (Vienna, Austria) led the Bulldogs with four attempts.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, October 3, when they host Hartwick at 1 p.m.
