#1 BRYANT SET TO PLAY #8 RED FLASH IN NORTHEAST CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS FRIDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After earning the #1 overall seed at the Northeast Conference Tennis Championships on Monday, the Bulldogs are set to faceoff with #8 Saint Francis U. on Friday at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, N.J.

The Bulldogs, who posted a perfect 6-0 mark against NEC competition this season, have yet to faceoff with Saint Francis U. in Bryant's five-year Division I history.

The Black and Gold opened NEC play with a huge 4-3 victory over preseason-favorite Fairleigh Dickinson in February. Following that impressive showing, the Bulldogs earned a another one-point win on the road at Mount St. Mary's on March 14.

Bryant closed NEC play with a weekend sweep of Wagner and Quinnipiac, before defeating Sacred Heart, 7-0, on March 28 and St. Francis Brooklyn, 6-1, on April 6. Overall, Bryant outscored league opponents, 34-8, en route to a perfect, 6-0, record in its first season of Division I eligibility.

The Red Flash finished the 2011-13 regular season with a 7-14 overall record going 3-5 in NEC play, earning wins against St. Francis Brooklyn, Monmouth and Wagner.

"We are going to try and start fast and stunt an momentum they may have gained in the first round," said Bryant head coach Ron Gendron. "But, we are ready for anything and I know we will get off to a great start tomorrow."
