MEN'S TENNIS TOPS SAINT FRANCIS U., 4-0, FRIDAY IN NORTHEAST CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS

Smithfield, R.I.- The #1 seeded Bryant University men's tennis team took care of business at the Northeast Conference Championships on Friday, defeating #8 Saint Francis U., 4-0, in Quarterfinal action.

The Bulldogs got things started right off the bat in double play as the dynamic duo of Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y.) and Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) defeated Washi Gervais and Sergio Carvajal, 8-4, in the number singles spot. In the number three spot, freshmen tandem Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) and Munir Serin (Mersin, Turkey) clinched the double point for the Black and Gold with a dominant 8-1 victory over Juan Pardo and Chris Jimenez.

In single action, Vogt completed a near-perfect day with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Andres Rosa at the number two spot, while senior Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.) defeated Jimenez, 6-3, 6-2, in the number five singles position. Rounding out the sweep for Bryant was sophomore Joshua Rubinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) who topped Pardo in the six-hole, 6-3, 6-1.

"Today was another step toward our goal," said Bryant head coach Ron Gendron. "We are here to play and we can't wait for tomorrow."

The Bulldogs will prepare for a rematch against #4 Mount St. Mary's Saturday at 11:30 a.m. for the right to advance to the NEC Tournament Finals. Earlier this season in Emmitsburg, Md., the Black and Gold squeaked out a 4-3 win against The Mount.
