SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team dropped a tight match against NJIT, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon in Newark, N.J.

HOW IT HAPPENED (DOUBLES)

  • No. 1 – Redshirt-junior Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) and junior Artur Jakubowski (Dallas, Texas) posted a 6-3 victory over NJIT's Jan Cimrman and Abdullah Fouad.
  • No. 2 – Richard Rangga and Lukas Zvikas defeated Jorge Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) and younger brother Jorge Isaias Ortiz-Garcia (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico), 6-4.
  • No. 3 – Aleksa Petrovic and Zac Castagna won a thrilling match over freshmen Grant Pertile (Edgartown, Mass.) and Wilson Dong (Bradenton, Fla.), 7-6 (7-5).

HOW IT HAPPENED (SINGLES)

  • No. 1 – Kuhar ran his winning streak to eight with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Cimrman.
  • No. 2 – Senior Luke Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) picked up a big three-set victory, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, over Zvikas.
  • No. 3 – Fouad earned an important win over Dong, 7-6 (8-6), 6-0.
  • No. 4 – Petrovic won in straight sets over Jakubowski, 6-0, 6-3.
  • No. 5 – Isaias Ortiz-Garcia defeated Castagna, 6-3, 6-1.
  • No. 6 – Rangga helped NJIT close out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
