Men's Tennis begins Southland Championships on Thursday

FRISCO, Texas -- The Bryant University men's tennis team heads to Corpus Christi, Texas this week for the 2023 Southland Conference Men's Tennis Championship. Bryant will enter as the No. 8 seed and will face top-seeded New Orleans on Thursday, April 20.

Bryant enters its first Southland Conference Championship with a 7-17 overall record. The eight-team tournament will be held at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Courts on the campus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

The Black and Gold are led at the top by Leonardo Mileikowsky and Diego Serra Sparrow. Mileikowsky is 8-10 at the No. 1 spot, while Serra Sparrow has posted a 7-9 dual record, including a 3-3 mark at No. 2. 

Nick Lorenz, Myles Peterson, Will Pellegrini and Ryan Fu are expected to round out Bryant's singles lineup. Lorenz is 7-15 in dual matches this year, going 5-5 over his last 10. Peterson is just 2-8 but has been in every match, while Pellegrini enters the championships at 2-9. Fu is in his first year at Bryant and owns a 4-2 record. 

In doubles, Fu will team with Diego Trejo at the No. 1 spot, while Serra Sparrow and Marcus Macaulay will be at No. 2. Mileikowsky and JC Baril will play at No. 3. Fu and Trejo have come together late in the season to form a strong team, posting a 3-1 record. Serra Sparrow and Macaulay are also 3-1 as a tandem, while Mileikowsky and Baril are 2-3 together this season.
