T&F travels to BU, MIT this weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's and women's track and field team's head back to Cambridge, Mass., this weekend for a meet against Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Saturday, Jan. 28. A select number of Bulldogs will also compete in the Terrier Invitational Select Meet on Friday and Saturday at Boston University.

Eimear Black (Glengormely, Ireland), Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) and Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) will compete for the women, while Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.), Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.) and the 4x400 relay team will represent the men's squad. Black and Walsh will compete in the mile run, while Tomasetti will compete in the 800m run. Twardowski and Busby will both run the 3000m. Michael Arons (West Hartford, Conn.), Kevin Louine (Mattapan, Mass.), Anthony Monteiro (Leominster, Mass.) and Kyle Reid (North Raynham, Mass.) make up the 4x400 relay team.

The Black and Gold are coming off a successful showing at the Greater Boston TC Invitational this past Sunday (Jan. 22). Monteiro tied for first in the 60m hurdles and set a school record with a time of 8.44. Fellow senior Chris Brida (Southampton, Mass.) earned a second- and third-place finish in the triple and long jump, and Twardowski finished second in the mile. The team of Arons, Louine, Monteiro and Reid won the 4x440 yard relay.

Jasmine Bryant (Salem, Mass.) continued her strong start, setting a school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.47. She also finished third in the triple jump. Amanda Dilley (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Walsh also earned third-place finishes in the 400m dash and the 800m run, respectively.

The Bulldogs return to the Ocean State next week, as they compete in the URI Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4.
