Bryant competes in the Tribute to Charles Torpey Invitational at URI Saturday

BULLDOGS CLOSE REGULAR SEASON AT TRIBUTE TO CHARLES TORPEY INVITATIONAL

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In its final tune-up for the Northeast Conference Championships next weekend, the Bryant University track and field team travels to Kingston, R.I., to compete in the Tribute to Charles Torpey Invitational at the University of Rhode Island on Sat., Feb. 4.

The Bulldogs are coming off a successful weekend in the Boston area. Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.) set a program record in the 3000m run at the Terrier Invitational, while the Black and Gold racked up 11 first-place finishes at the MIT Coed Invitational.

Chris Brida (Southampton, Mass.) led the way by winning both the long jump (6.26m) and the triple jump (13.77m). Amanda Dilley(Bridgewater, Mass.)Michael Arons (West Hartford, Conn.)Anthony Monteiro(Leominster, Mass.)Ryan Flanagan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.)Martha Reynolds(London, England)Blake Fenwick (Thomaston, Conn.) and David Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) also won events for the Bulldogs.

Following Saturday's meet, the Bulldogs will set their sights on the 2012 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships next Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 11-12) in Landover, Md.
