BULLDOGS COMPETE IN THE USATF NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS ON SUNDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – With the Northeast Conference Track and Field Championships in the rearview mirror, the Bryant University track and field teams will have one more shot at qualifying for more postseason competition this Sunday, Feb. 19 at the USA Track & Field-New England Championships on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.

Last weekend, the Bulldogs put together a strong performance at the conference championships, finishing 10th in the men's meet and 11th in the women's. Several individual put forth solid efforts, including graduate student Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.) and sophomore Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland) in the 3000m run. Both earned points for the Bulldogs, with Twardowski finishing seventh and Black finishing fifth.

Bryant also got record-breaking performances from its distance medley relay teams. The quartet of Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.), Amanda Dilley (Bridgewater, Mass.), Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) and Black finished third with a school-record time of 12:16.21 and Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.), Michael Arons (West Hartford, Conn.), Ben Polichronopoulos (South Berwick, Maine) and Twardowski finished sixth, setting the school record with a time of 10:22.87.

The Bulldogs goal for this weekend will be to meet qualifying times for the New England Championships (Feb. 24-25) and the IC4A and ECAC Championships (Mar. 3-4) that are scheduled for the next two weekends.
