TWARDOWSKI SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN THE 5000 AT THE USATF NEW ENGLAND CHAMP.

RESULTS

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Graduate student Scott Twardowski (Rehoboth, Mass.) broke his second school record of the season on Sunday (Feb. 19), pacing the Bryant University track and field teams at the USATF New England Indoor Championships held at Harvard University.

Already the record holder in the 3000m run, Twardowski added a 5000m record to his resume, crossing the line with a time of 15:03.27, breaking the old mark by over three seconds. His time earned him a third-place finish and nearly qualified him for the New England Championships, as he finished three hundredths of a second shy of the qualifying time.

Off to a great start to her Bryant career, freshman Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.) turned in another strong performance on Sunday, finishing sixth in the 800m run. She recorded a season-best time of 2:19.93 in the event, missing out on a school record by a mere five hundredths of a second.

The Bulldogs also received several other top-10 finishes on the afternoon. Kara Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) joined Tomasetti in the top 10 of the 800m run, finishing with a time of 2:21.89. Megan Robertson (Sewell, N.J.) earned a seventh-place finish in the 5000m run, crossing the line with a time of 19:41.14. Katelyn Kelleher's (Wrentham, Mass.) weight throw distance of 10.88m earned her 10th place, as well. On the men's side, Kevin Louine (Mattapan, Mass.), Nicholas Douglas (Shelton, Conn.) and Kyle Reid (North Raynham, Mass.) all earned top-10 finishes in the 200m dash, finishing seventh (22.92), ninth (23.25) and 10th (23.25), respectively. Senior's Anthony Monteiro (Leominster, Mass.) and Ryan Busby (Derry, N.H.) combined to earn three top-10 finishes. Monteiro finished eighth in the 400m dash (51.43) and fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.65), while Busby finished fifth in the mile (4:18.14). Ronald Hill (New Bedford, Mass.), 10th in the 60m hurdles (9.05), and Ademitokunbo Oremule (Mansfield, Conn.), ninth in the high jump (1.78m), rounded out the Black and Gold's top-10 finishers.

Next on the schedule for the Bulldogs is the New England Championships this coming weekend, Feb. 24-25 in Boston, Mass. Several of the Bulldogs have qualified for the meet and will find out their seeding on Wednesday.
