Hayes breaks own record in 500

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – A day after smashing her own school record in the 500m dash, sophomore Kristen Hayes (Menands, N.Y.) finished eighth in the event to lead the Bryant University track and field team at the NEICAAA Championships in Boston, Mass.

Hayes was one of nine Bulldogs that competed in the meet. Northeastern won the women's meet with 115 points, and Southern Connecticut State won the men's meet with 118 points.

On Friday, Hayes broke her own record in the 500 with a time of 1:17.19 and qualified for the finals. She had set the record earlier in the year with a time of 1:17.94 at the Terrier Invitational. Hayes posted a time of 1:17.76 on Saturday to finish eighth in the event.

Brooke Tomasetti (Waterford, Conn.), Jonee Harrison (Dorchester, Mass.), Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.), Francis Foley (Acton, Mass.), Blake Fenwick (Thomaston, Conn.), Christopher Chapruet (Danvers, Mass.), Brian Sullivan (Hingham, Mass.) and Nick Todman (Danbury, Conn.) also competed for the Bulldogs.
